Nursery

We accept children into our nursery from age two. Our nursery is split into two separate rooms; Hedgehogs (2-3 year olds) and Squirrels (3-4 year olds). Our classrooms have been recently developed and are very well equipped with new resources. We have a separate newly redeveloped outdoor space for Hedgehogs. Squirrels share our large outdoor area with Reception.

We are flexible in terms of hours and days offered. The morning session runs from 8.45 – 11.45. Children may add Lunch Club onto a half day session if they do not do full days. The afternoon session runs from 12.15 – 3.15. Families are welcome to request particular days for full day or half days.

Sessions: £15 per session                        08:45-11:45 & 12:15-15:15

Lunch Club: £3.00 per lunch club        11:45-12:15

We offer 15 hour and 30 hour government funded places. Any hours attended in excess of the funded hours would be charged based on the above pricing.

Our nursery children are able to use wraparound care before and after school from 7.30am until 6pm. We always have a member of staff from Nursery in wraparound care so there is always a familiar adult. Breakfast Club is £5.50 per day and After School Club is £11.00 per day.

Children who stay for lunch are welcome to bring a packed lunch or have a school dinner at a cost of £2.40 per day.

Our Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that continues until the end of the reception year. There are 7 areas of learning which are all important and connected.

In nursery, there is a particular focus on the three ‘Prime Areas’ which are the building blocks for all future learning:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

Our early introduction to phonics through the Little Wandle phonics programme ensures children make excellent progress in reading and writing and have a headstart when starting school.

Our children learn mostly through free play with the support of our skilled staff. In addition, children in Squirrels receive short, fun sessions in phonics and maths.

If you are looking for a Nursery place for your child, we would love to show you around. Please call the school office to make an appointment.
